Starting Our Journey by Train

On 24 April 2016, my wife Suneera, our two-year-old daughter Fathima Haniya, and I set off on an exciting trip to Nilambur Teak Museum and Hanging Bridge in Malappuram. We boarded the train from Perinthalmanna to Nilambur, and the train ride itself was an adventure. Fathima was particularly thrilled by the sights and sounds of the train, gazing out of the window as the world rushed by.

The Beautiful Train Ride Through Nature

The train journey from Perinthalmanna to Nilambur took us through lush green landscapes and peaceful villages. The sight of endless greenery and tall trees was a treat to the eyes. Fathima kept pointing out trees and birds, and the calm rhythm of the train made the ride relaxing for all of us.

Exploring Nilambur Teak Museum

Once we reached Nilambur, our first stop was the Teak Museum, a fascinating place that showcases the rich history of teak in Kerala. We wandered through the museum, learning about the world’s first teak plantation and the importance of teak in the region. Fathima, though too young to understand the details, enjoyed walking around and pointing at the exhibits.

The Majestic Hanging Bridge

After exploring the museum, we made our way to the nearby Hanging Bridge, one of the highlights of Nilambur. The view from the bridge, suspended over the river with trees lining both sides, was breathtaking. We carefully walked across, holding Fathima’s hands as she enjoyed the gentle swaying of the bridge. The peaceful flow of the river beneath us made it a perfect spot for photos and quiet reflection.

A Relaxing Family Picnic

We ended the day with a small picnic by the river, near the Hanging Bridge. The serene atmosphere, with the sound of the river and the rustling leaves, was ideal for a peaceful family moment. Fathima happily munched on her snacks while we sat back and soaked in the beauty of Nilambur, making it a perfect end to a wonderful day.

The Return Journey Home

As the day drew to a close, we boarded the train back to Perinthalmanna, feeling content and rejuvenated. The trip had been a perfect blend of learning, adventure, and relaxation, and it was especially memorable for us as a family. Fathima had her first glimpse of the wonders of nature, and we knew this would be one of many more trips to come.
