The Start of an Exciting Journey
On 22 March 2012, 35 of my college friends and I, along with our teachers, embarked on an unforgettable trip to Wayanad. We gathered early in the morning at Edakkara, where a tourist bus awaited us. The energy was electric as everyone was excited for what lay ahead. Wayanad’s mix of natural beauty and historical wonders promised to give us memories we’d cherish forever.

The Journey to Wayanad
The bus ride from Edakkara to Wayanad was a journey in itself. The road snaked through dense forests, rolling hills, and plantations, offering beautiful scenery along the way. Music and laughter filled the bus as we enjoyed every bit of the road trip. As the fresh mountain air greeted us, we knew we were in for a treat.
Exploring Edakkal Fort
Our first stop was the historic Edakkal Fort. Climbing up the rugged path to the caves was both challenging and exhilarating. The ancient carvings on the cave walls left us in awe, offering a glimpse into history dating back thousands of years. Standing at the top, we were rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, which was absolutely breathtaking.
Kuruva Island: A Tranquil Escape
Next, we visited Kuruva Island, a beautiful, serene island located in the middle of the Kabini River. The peaceful atmosphere and rich biodiversity made it a perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon. We strolled along the riverbank, exploring the flora and fauna, and enjoyed a fun boat ride to navigate between the small islands.
Nearby Attractions and Fun Moments
Apart from Edakkal Fort and Kuruva Island, we also visited nearby places, each more beautiful than the last. The rolling hills, misty valleys, and waterfalls we encountered made the trip even more enriching. Throughout the day, we captured countless moments with our friends—laughing, exploring, and cherishing the time spent together.
An Unforgettable Group Experience
The bond we shared with our friends and teachers made the trip incredibly special. As the day ended, we returned to Edakkara on our bus, tired but filled with joy and new experiences. This trip to Wayanad was more than just a journey—it was a celebration of friendship, nature, and learning, making it one of the most cherished moments of our college life.
