Exploring Kollengode: A Marigold Wonderland in Palakkad

A Journey with Friends

I went to Kollengode with my friends C Gopakumar, Anil Kumar, and Pradeesh. The trip was filled with laughter, conversations, and a shared sense of excitement. Kollengode, nestled in Palakkad district, welcomed us with its vibrant colors and traditional charm.

The Marigold Park Experience

Unlike any other tourist spot, Kollengode stood out because it was actually a marigold park set up in a paddy field. The boundaries of the field (varamp) were decorated with bright marigold flowers, turning the entire place into a golden paradise.

Traditional Village Touch

The organizers added a traditional village touch to the place. We saw erumaadam (cattle hut), beautiful light arrangements for a photo section, and even an artificial elephant statue that caught everyone’s attention. It felt like a rural fair set against nature’s backdrop.

Bustling with Tourists

When we arrived, the parking area was full of tourist vehicles. The site was buzzing with families, youngsters, and photography enthusiasts from different parts of Kerala and other states. The main cultivation here was Navara rice, but the seasonal marigold display stole the show.

Food and Refreshments

Small shops dotted the park with ice creams, water bottles, and local snacks. These stalls kept visitors refreshed as they explored under the warm sun. The mix of local flavors and the festive mood made the trip even more memorable.

Capturing Memories

We spent a long time clicking photos against the marigold backdrop and the scenic mountain views surrounding Kollengode. Every frame looked like a postcard. This trip gave us countless memories, laughter, and photographs that we will cherish forever.
